The University of Greenwich and the University of Kent have completed a landmark merger to form the London and South East University Group (LASEUG), making it the third-largest university group in the United Kingdom. The new institution will officially begin operations in September 2026, while both universities will continue to retain their individual identities and academic traditions.
The merger follows months of planning and is designed to strengthen financial sustainability, expand research capacity, improve student services, and increase international competitiveness. Together, the universities will educate more than 50,000 students across campuses in London, Medway, and Kent, creating one of the UK's largest higher education networks.
