In an official address, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the Pan-African Parliament represents the aspirations of more than 1.5 billion Africans and called on member states to work together in addressing the continent's most pressing challenges.
The President highlighted conflict, economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and climate change as issues that require coordinated action rather than isolated national responses. He urged African leaders and parliamentarians to strengthen democratic institutions, promote peace and security, and accelerate implementation of the African Union's Agenda 2063.
Ramaphosa concluded by encouraging the Pan-African Parliament to serve as "the conscience of our continent," emphasizing that Africa's future depends on collective leadership and practical cooperation among member states. The address was delivered during the official opening of the Seventh Legislature of the Pan-African Parliament in Midrand, South Africa.
