Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment have unveiled a landmark multi-year global licensing agreement that significantly expands their long-standing partnership. Under the new arrangement, Sony Pictures' feature films will become available exclusively on Netflix worldwide following their theatrical and home entertainment release windows.
According to the companies, the agreement will be introduced gradually as existing regional rights expire, with full global implementation expected by early 2029. In addition to new theatrical releases, Netflix will also license selected titles from Sony Pictures' extensive film and television library.
The companies described the agreement as the first global Pay-1 licensing deal of its kind, marking a major shift in how Sony Pictures' films will reach streaming audiences around the world. The announcement strengthens Netflix's entertainment catalogue while providing Sony Pictures with a unified global streaming partner for its future theatrical releases
