Job Description
CONTROLS AND TECHNICAL ACCOUNTANT
Reporting directly to the Technical Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will among other duties, be responsible for the following:-
Key responsibilities include:-
Prepare and review financial statements, control environments, SOPs and Process Improvements.
Manage asset and lease accounting
Support capital expenditure and project finance processes.
Ensure a strong internal control environment and support the organization’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
Performing technical accounting reviews
Assessing journal entries and key controls.
Documenting processes, and supporting control testing to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Ensuring compliance with tax and other regulatory requirements.

Qualification
Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes
Bachelors Degree in Accountancy and ACCA qualification or equivalent professional accounting qualification
Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in controls, technical, or audit and accounting roles.
Strong knowledge of asset accounting, depreciation, and capital project finance.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into financial terms.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, technical environment.
Integrity, trustworthy and ethically upright professional in good standing with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi.
