Kevin Hart’s comedy 72 Hours has maintained its position as the world’s leading English-language film on Netflix, recording 25.1 million views during its second week at the top of the platform’s rankings.
Netflix officially published the latest global viewing results on 4 August 2026, covering audience activity during the week beginning 27 July.
The film stars Hart as Joe, a 40-year-old advertising executive experiencing serious difficulties in his career. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is mistakenly added to a group conversation concerning a bachelor-party weekend.
Instead of ignoring the invitation, Joe travels to Miami and joins a much younger group of partygoers. The resulting trip places him in a series of chaotic and comedic situations as he attempts to connect with a generation whose lifestyle is very different from his own.
Hart appears alongside Marcello Hernández, Mason Gooding, Kam Patterson and Ben Marshall. The film’s combination of an established comedy star and younger performers appears to have helped it attract audiences across different age groups.
Remaining at No. 1 for a second week is significant because streaming titles frequently experience their strongest viewing figures immediately after release before declining as new productions enter the platform.
Netflix’s latest figures suggest that 72 Hours maintained strong audience interest after its initial launch and continued to benefit from recommendations, publicity and discussion among viewers.
The true-crime documentary A Toxic Love Story remained in second place on the English-language film chart with 12.9 million views. The documentary follows an investigation that begins when a woman receives violent threats from an unidentified sender and later uncovers a complicated pattern of deception and betrayal.
Meanwhile, The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare entered the English-language television chart at No. 1 with 18.2 million views.
The three-part documentary examines the 2022 deaths of four university students who were found in a house in Idaho. It uses police material and accounts from the victims’ families to explore the case and its human impact.
The documentary’s immediate arrival at the top of the television rankings demonstrates the continued global popularity of true-crime programming on streaming platforms.
The second season of the modern Western drama Ransom Canyon debuted in second position on the English television chart with 5.5 million views.
The series stars Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel and follows ranching families struggling to protect their relationships, land and way of life. Interest in the new episodes also encouraged viewers to return to the first season, which re-entered the chart at No. 5 with 2.5 million views.
The Bombing of Pan Am 103 debuted at No. 3 with five million views. The six-part drama is based on the 1988 bombing that killed 270 people and follows the investigation and consequences of the tragedy.
The Harlan Coben adaptation I Will Find You ranked fourth on the weekly English-language television list with 4.8 million views. It also rose to ninth place on Netflix’s ranking of its most popular television programmes of all time after reaching 106.7 million views over seven weeks.
The animated film Swapped achieved a similar long-term milestone. It ranked seventh on the weekly English film chart with three million views and moved to eighth place among Netflix’s most popular films after accumulating 144.9 million views over 12 weeks.
International productions also performed strongly. Brazilian thriller Elize: Shadows of a Woman remained No. 1 on the non-English film chart with 17.4 million views, while French military drama Elite Force retained the top position among non-English television programmes with 6.9 million views.
The rankings released on 4 August demonstrate the wide range of entertainment attracting streaming audiences, from comedy and animation to true crime, historical drama and modern Western storytelling.
