The Icelandic-Chinese singer has unveiled the international programme for the fourth edition of “A Very Laufey Day,” scheduled for 23 August. This year’s celebration will reach 75 cities across 25 countries, turning what began as a creative album-promotion idea into a global cultural network.
Unlike a conventional concert tour, the event will not place every fan before the same stage. Local itineraries will invite participants to move through museums, libraries, theatres, cafés, bookstores and music venues in their own cities. The 2026 theme, “A Celebration of the Arts,” expands the programme beyond Laufey’s music to include ballet, jazz, opera, orchestral performances and theatre.
Several major institutions are participating, including the Guggenheim in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, Tate Modern and the National Gallery in London, Chile’s Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and Seoul’s Daelim Museum. Selected cinemas will also screen Laufey’s concert film, A Night at the Symphony: Hollywood Bowl.
The format reflects an unusual change in modern celebrity culture. Instead of asking followers to remain on social-media platforms, Laufey is encouraging them to enter public cultural spaces, meet other listeners and discover art forms that may previously have appeared distant or intimidating.
That approach is especially significant because much of her audience belongs to Generation Z and Generation Alpha. Museums, orchestras and galleries have spent years searching for ways to attract younger visitors. Laufey is offering them a bridge built from fashion, fandom and contemporary music rather than formal advertising.
Participating cafés and shops are expected to offer themed refreshments and limited-edition items, adding a commercial layer to the celebration. However, the event’s larger value may be its ability to demonstrate that a music community can produce meaningful activity beyond ticket sales, streaming figures and merchandise queues.
“A Very Laufey Day” began in 2023 as an invitation for fans to experience the singer’s ideal day while listening to her album Bewitched. Its expansion illustrates how an artist’s identity can grow into a shared lifestyle—one capable of sending thousands of people into cultural institutions across several continents.
On 23 August, Laufey will effectively stage a global entertainment event without building a single central arena. Every participating city will become part of the venue, and every museum corridor, bookshop and café could become a meeting point for listeners who previously knew one another only through a screen.
